How do you pronounce MSCHF?

Doesn't matter. Nobody knows, and nobody cares.

MSCHF is a Brooklyn-based art and design collective known for turning uncomfortable ideas into cultural phenomena. They don't do traditional advertising. They ask uncomfortable questions and turn them into objects, campaigns, and experiences that people can't stop sharing.

A few examples:

  • Our Cow Angus: they bought a real cow and pre-sold it as burgers and leather handbags, letting buyers decide, over time, whether the animal would live or not. The project put an uncomfortable question about meat consumption on the table, disguised as a product campaign.

King Solomon's Baby: a 15-foot biblical sculpture, cut live in front of an audience and sold in 1,000 fragments.

  • Sneakers, collaborations, and drops that sell out in minutes, sparking conversation long before most people even understand what they bought.

None of this depends on the public knowing how to pronounce the collective's name. It depends on the public remembering what they did.

The lesson for any brand

There are brands that spend their budget getting you to memorize their name: big logo, catchy jingle, constant repetition. And there are brands people already live inside of, without needing to memorize anything, because the way they act has already become part of the cultural conversation.

MSCHF is the second kind.

At DEGA, we build for the second kind: identities that don't depend on being repeated, but on being recognized for what they do.

Is your brand remembered for its name, or for what it does? Reach out and let's work on it together.
